Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Well it's Sunday 1 January 2012 and I'm in London. :)

Year of the Olympics, Year of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Year of me not going to school... well not to study anyway.

So I ended up going into central London for the fireworks. When I got there I just kind of followed the crowds for a bit and then ended up secretly tagging along with a family (they don't know I was). They eventually stopped and I didn't realise until I had walked past them and lost them. I thought I might keep walking just a little bit further and see what I could find.

Literally like 50m away a policemen and event manager opened an alleyway and let a few more people on to the banks of the Thames, which had previously been advertised as full! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!

I walked along the bank a little and came back to a really good position. I couldn't be in front of the Eye because I was too far East so there was a barricade, but I could see the Eye and I could see Big Ben. I stood around for about an hour, with another two hours to come.

A family came and stood next to and were making comments I couldn't help but laugh at. They noticed after a bit and asked if they had separated me from my friends. No, I was alone... They practically adopted me on the spot. They were opening bottles of Champagne for me and talking to me like they knew me already. They were drinking just as much as everyone else around us - but not to a horrible state. (Aussie's could put Brit's to shame with the amount we drink! They weren't actually the ones passing out or throwing up it was people from other countries - and even then I think I only saw two, just in Canberra it'd be every second corner you turn). They were dancing like they were 20 and we were all having so much fun! Brought in the new year with another bottle of champagne. It was so good! The fireworks were spectacular! I didn't know so many fireworks could come of one Ferris Wheel! :P and hearing Big Ben with the fireworks was so cool!

After the fireworks I was walking with the new family back to Covent Garden as that is where they needed to go as well. It was closed because of the crowds so I was going to walk up to the next station. Bless 'em, they would not let me walk alone! So we walked for ages past so many stations because they were all closed, but they wouldn't leave my side. When eventually I saw my bus that I could catch, I ran to jump on it, and they stayed and waved me off. Was very cute :) Got home at about 2:00am which wasn't so bad, but I fell asleep straight away.
