Oops :)

Hey everyone, I'm standing in the apple store in Scotland and have realized that I didn't actually copy the word document in to the blog when I wrote it the other day so when I get back to the house I will update it so you know where I am up to.

Lots of love to everyone around the world.xxxx

Another Day, Another Week

Little bit of a hectic week really. Handford Charity Week started on Friday and the organisation and lead up to it was absolutely frantic.

Monday night I helped the Charity Reps to actually get the ball rolling. Was working with them for about 2 hours to send off emails, prepare posters and getting permission from the right people and all the rest of it.

Tuesday we had Ken Sherwood Award applicant day. So students who are coming to Lancing in the summer who are good in all areas of the school (or try so very hard) come and try to get this scholarship. They have to write essays, do some tests, drama, dance, music, interviews and spend 3 hours in the afternoon rotating through sports. So was helping out with getting the kids around the school and helping make sure that everything was running smoothly. In the afternoon we also had a FastNet Netball Tournament against Hurstpierpoint College, so while the organiser was with the Ken Sherwood people I had to help run the tournament! Went really well and Lancing played really well considering it is a very new thing to both schools. Headed back to help with ken Sherwood after this and then went up to my house for Duty. Massive day and my hamstrings were killing me!

Wednesday was just any other regular Wednesday so nothing exciting.

Thursday was same old, but was offsite playing an away match for Netball. We were playing a pretty tough school but we came away with a win, a small loss, and a mass loss. So wasn’t too bad really.

Friday was the same as usual throughout the day – just at the prep school – but the night, was when our Charity events started. And started with a bit of a low. The calendar had not been checked and our Karaoke and Pizza night was right above a formal function, so last minute the whole event was moved to house and with the change of plans, people didn’t want to come to the house (it is a bit of a hike especially from some of the houses). So our girls decided to take the pizzas to the other houses and scratch the Karaoke. Well what an interesting night to start the weekend.

Saturday morning I was at Rodean College for SISNA netball tournament. There were 9 8 minute games… in rain and a wind tunnel coming off the ocean. It was absolutely wet and miserable. Although Lancing played fairly well I think the rain got to them a bit more than they realised. As we were leaving the sun decided to come out which was a bit annoying. Got back to school to find out that Handford Charity Carwash apparently went really well and they raised quite a bit of money. This put them in high spirits for the Games Night ahead. A group of us went down and set up for the Games Night, and only a few people Lancing students showed up, but it was OK because we had Slovenians staying at the school and they didn’t have anything on so they all got to come and join in a heap of fun games.

Sunday consisted of a late wake up and the smell of cup cakes! Today I watched a few movies and helped to make 250 cupcakes for the cake sale tomorrow.

Was so tired that I fell asleep on the Housemistress’ couch for a while and then had dinner and fell asleep in the Gap Shack for an hour and a half. I have slept so much this afternoon that I am now awake updating everything since Ireland and have been going at it since 9.00pm. It’s now 12.45am and the internet has been turned off and I can’t connect to actually put this on the blog. So for now I say goodnight, and I will post this all tomorrow!

First Week Back After Half-Term

So once again, not a lot has happened at school this week, just the same old, same old.

It was Short Weekend this weekend as well so we had to stick around on Saturday to help look after students. Saturday was house Netball and Handford did amazingly! They may have lost a few games (maybe even all of them) but we were the only house who had everyone there for support and had the greatest house Spirit! So happy I am in Handford.
Saturday night was House Song, so once again Handford came together and produced an amazing piece and ended up actually winning House Song!! WOOOHHH!!! A win in House Spirit and a win in Song! What a great day for Handford!
Sunday I headed into Brighton with the other gappers and did a little retail therapy and got a dress and pair of jeans. J We sat on Brighton beach (rocks... not sand) and had Ice-cream! Was a good weekend J

Sunday – Final day in Ireland

Woke about 10.00am and checked out. Went and sat at Macca’s and have now been sitting here for four hours doing stuff. Not anything particular, just zoning out and stuff.

Headed off to the ferry about 2.30pm and sat at the ferryport for nearly 5 hours before I finally got to check in. Just looking out the window behind me, I can only see the ‘FE’ of Irish Ferries written on the side of the ferry. It’s Mass!! OK, so no big shock, but when it’s there in reality it is much easier to understand!

When I got on the ferry, I had a little Titanic moment. Although nowhere near as glamorous in my uggies and trackies! Sat down at the back of the ferry near the kids playground as we took off and watched a little girl playing on the equipment. I then headed to the Cinema and watched War Horse. Good Film! The movie nearly took me the whole trip but was a good way to keep awake and not get bored. :)

Got off in Holyhead around midnight and realised that I was actually in Wales!! :) :) Was an exciting moment but it didn’t last long when I got so tired and ended up falling asleep on the cold floor of the train station.

Nearly missed my train, it just happened that someone close by mistook me for someone else and woke me up. Got on the train at 4.30am and fell asleep almost straight away and was that way until we arrived in London at 8.30am.
Trekked across London with my luggage again, although not as much this time and got to London Victoria to realise that I had booked my ticket for the wrong date, I then brought another ticket and realised that it was the wrong train and so third time lucky finally brought a train ticket home.
Got home just after 12.00pm and went and got lunch. Second meal in 4 days, Was soooo good! Went back up to the house and had a shower as I felt incredibly gross from travelling and then went to Lifeguard training at 2.00pm. Came back at about 4.30pm and fell asleep straight away. My Housemistress woke me up at dinner time and when I came back from dinner, I bet you can guess what I did! SLEPT!! :)

Was such a great trip (excluding the mishap at the end) and would highly recommend to people. Yes there was drinking almost everyday but you didn’t have to stick with the group of the night when they were drinking and had so much free time! Was so good to see the historical side of Ireland and the touristy places and still be able to see today’s Ireland and see the nightlife. So very glad I went!!! :) :)

Day 6 of the Paddywagon Tour – Ireland

I don’t really remember anything form today as I woke at 8.50am got on the bus at 9.00am and fell asleep almost straight away. I didn’t wake up until I was in Dublin again at 3.30pm. Apparently every time everyone got off the bus they locked me in because I wouldn’t get up. When we got back to Dublin, I went straight to the hospital. I have to say – I now appreciate Australia’s 3-4 hour wait in Emergency because I had to wait 11 hours!!! It took 4 hours to get the initial ‘what’s wrong?’ consult. 4 and a half more hours till I saw a doctor. Had a gazillion tests done and waited another 2 hours to be told that all the tests were clear and I just have a horrible viral infection that could last a few weeks. So at 2.30am Sunday morning I crashed in the hostel.

Day 5 of the Paddywagon Tour – Ireland

Today we made it to Killarney.
We went on a horse and carriage ride through the parks of Killarney which was an absolutely amazing sight! I can’t explain so I will just post pictures of some of the Tirty-Tree Tousasnd Acres of land!

After this we had lunch and drove along the South coast checking out some of the amazing rock formations. Was such a beautiful along the cliffs but very windy!

Tonight was another pub meal but at a Paddy’s specialty pub. Lots of drinking was happening including cheap Car Bombs. I didn’t drink anything tonight, was feeling a little under the weather but OK. Got back to the Hostel about 12:30, helped a few vomiters to bed and then crashed rather hard.

Day 4 of the Paddywagon Tour – Ireland

Today is Tursday! Tank heavens it’s Tursday! Fairly relaxed start to the day today. Got on the bus and headed towards the Cliffs of Moher. But we did have a quick stop at Dunguaire Castle. It was a lovely little castle on the water that people such as Yeats used to go to for inspiration and simply just because. There was legend that if you walk around the castle clockwise your wish would come true. If you walked around the castle anti-clockwise you got your virginity back.I walked anti-clockwise.

JOKES!! Clockwise, and I wished for…

Then it was to the Cliffs of Moher. It was absolutely stunning. Some places really are just as beautiful as the photos and videos. I also got a Claddagh ring here. :)

Next stop was at Blarney Castle were I kissed the Blarney Stone for ‘the gift of eloquent speech’ or ‘the gift of the gab’.

We then checked into our next place of accommodation and just chilled out for a bit. Wasn’t going to go out tonight but saw a few other gapers I knew and thought I may as well get dressed up and go but no drinking for me. The club seemed great and the music was just perfect but my asthma had been playing up all day and the haze machines just weren’t helping. I had also never seen as many girls in bras, undies and heels, in one place as I did tonight. OK, so slight exaggeration, but seriously. PUT SOME REAL CLOTHES ON! So only stuck around for an hour and came back to read my book and do a couple of things on the net. Ended up being very chilled and better for me!! :)
