Laziness...

I know I haven't updated this in a while but nothing drastic has really happened. It's just been the same routine every week. Sport, prep school and filing. So on a day-to-day basis... Nothing new.

Since the 18/Jan... Lets See:

Gappers Conference - All the Stuff you need to know as a staff member and as a gapper. was an interesting course but almost all of it was covered by the school in the first two/three days we were here. Was a good day all-in-all though. Went to London and missed my boring day of the timetable.

Exeact Weekend - One weekend every half term where the students have to go home (or somewhere at least). Friday night I had Chinese with the guys, Saturday did lots of things (cooking, cleaning, washing, running, netball stuff, emailing, online shopping (oops :)) and other stuff), then Sunday morning I went to London again for the Church (Australia Day Celebrations). Apparently every gapper that has ever been to England has gone. Well, I can say I have been, and will happily never go again...

Australia Day!!! - Was at the prep in the morning which was so much fun because the Year 3 class I help out with are doing Flat Stanley at the moment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Stanley) and they sent all their own letters around the world, and their letter back that week was actually from Australia so it coincided and we had lots of fun talking about Australia. I gave them all a little clip on koala each and one little boy came up to me afterwards (he is usually very naughty and doesn't do work and is rude etc...) and said "Thank you Miss Lee, I am going to sleep with it every night!" NAWWWWW!!!!!!! He has been so good every time I go into the class and does all his work while I'm there and get his gold stars. (I could go on forever about this class but I will stop there.)

Coming Up This Week:
Dance by Design performance & Cirque Du Soleil. Shall update soon

My Dream :)

£498 anyone??

2 Weeks In...

Finally settling in, gone through a whole week of my timetable and feeling very comfortable around the school. Great people (except the Kiwi I have to work with :P), great students and a great environment. Have myself involved in lots of extra-curricular activities already and going to be heavily involved in dance in about 2 weeks! netball has taken off with a bang and doing so much down on the courts. Not to much to tell, nothing incredibly new. Went out to brighton for the first time the other night and ended up bringing one of the guys home early (vomiting). but it was a good night, and I am actually glad I came home early.
heading off to Lonodon tomorrow for a Gapper's Conference so shall let everyone  know how thrilling that one will be. Friday-Sunday coming is Exeact weekend and we will be going to the Church (oh dear, help me) and living up Australia Day there.
Ideas are streaming in for Summer holidays and half term holidays.. --Me thinking at the moment, paddywagon with the other gappers through Ireland half term, and then two trips in the Summer holidays. Greek Island Hopper for 10 days at the start. 3-4 weeks doing other stuff and then a 14-day Europe unlocked tour... Yep, that's my plan so far... haven't booked yet though :/
No photos yet, but they will come eventually!

One Week In.

Been at Lancing for a week now and I am still loving it. Only done Sport, Admin, House Duty and Prep so far (big day coming tomorrow) but am still enjoying it.
Weather is not bad at all. Everyone is rugging up and saying how cold it is, but I'm not feeling the cold at all. I can be in a dress and cardy or trackies and a t-shirt and be absolutely fine. I even wore shorts and a t-shirt to Netball the other day. It really hasn't been all that bad -- but I have been told it only gets colder.. so bring it on.

My apologies for not posting here more often, but it's very basic day to day school stuff -- nothing exciting. No photos yet as I haven't really bothered to take my camera outside. I figured I have a whole year to show you all where I am and it'll keep you all waiting. :P

Lancing College

So I arrived here yesterday, and Wow. That is all I could say. You can see the Chapel from the freeway and it's massive!! It is kinda of boring but yet a beautiful building to look at, and inside is amazing!!
Yesterday consisted of meeting the other people and having a bit of a look around the school. We had dinner at the Deputy Head's office (my first boss) which was lovely but very formally informal. Was a bit strange but a great way to chat as a group and get to know about things to expect this year.
Today was staff INSET day and it was a rather lengthy day. Besides doing the same as what all the other staff where doing we had to get a couple of other extra things done as induction so it was a very full on day!!

Heading off to the Prep School first thing in the morning so it shall be an early bedtime for me. Well.. as early as I can.

Last Day in London

So not all that much to say. Met Sian and did a bit of shopping, came home and about to go to dinner - thinking I will go to my happy place (Covent Garden). Off to Brighton tomorrow to start the new job. Dinner at the bosses... little bit intimidating!

New Years Day

Woke at 9:30am in a fluster, was going to be late!!! I saw SIAN!!!! at Buckingham palace might I just add! Hehe! I has a photo... but it's on Sian's camera so here is some others.

Sian left the palace before me and then we just couldn't seem to catch each other again... so I did a few other things. Accidently walked into Westminster Cathedral. Was good though as it was in the middle of a service so I sat down and listened in. It was absolutley breath taking - literally. I really don't know what happened but after a few minutes I became very overwhelmed and felt a little claustrophobic. I was short of breath and just needed to get out of there. So the next hymn when everyone stood up I had to leave... was the weirdest thing ever! The cathedral though was gorgeous!

After this I went to take photos of the Houses of Parliament and accidentally walked into Westminster Abbey. Oops but yay again!! It was absolutely stunning! A service had just finished so people were walking out, the bells were ringing, it was amazing!

After taking photos of the Houses of Parliament I once again, accidentally, walked into the New Years Parade. So watched that. Was really cool. Although I didn't know so many people from America came across for it! 3 full cheer squads and 5 marching bands + the British stuff. Was weird but cool.

By the end of the parade I was drenched. It started raining just before the end of the parade. It was the first time since being here that I found it miserable. Usually it's light and doesn't bother you, or really heavy but only last 10 minutes. But this was constant dribbles. Was to heavy to be be showers but not heavy enough to be drenching.... I came home had soup and watched a movie (well a few minutes of a movie before I fell asleep :) ). The rest of the day has consisted of updating this blog and that now has everyone up to date to right this very moment - photos and a few videos to come later... it's 11:30 so goodnight everyone! Love

Covent Garden

Just a short clip from a street performer in Covent Garden.
(Don't know how to rotate sorry)

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Well it's Sunday 1 January 2012 and I'm in London. :)

Year of the Olympics, Year of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Year of me not going to school... well not to study anyway.

So I ended up going into central London for the fireworks. When I got there I just kind of followed the crowds for a bit and then ended up secretly tagging along with a family (they don't know I was). They eventually stopped and I didn't realise until I had walked past them and lost them. I thought I might keep walking just a little bit further and see what I could find.

Literally like 50m away a policemen and event manager opened an alleyway and let a few more people on to the banks of the Thames, which had previously been advertised as full! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!

I walked along the bank a little and came back to a really good position. I couldn't be in front of the Eye because I was too far East so there was a barricade, but I could see the Eye and I could see Big Ben. I stood around for about an hour, with another two hours to come.

A family came and stood next to and were making comments I couldn't help but laugh at. They noticed after a bit and asked if they had separated me from my friends. No, I was alone... They practically adopted me on the spot. They were opening bottles of Champagne for me and talking to me like they knew me already. They were drinking just as much as everyone else around us - but not to a horrible state. (Aussie's could put Brit's to shame with the amount we drink! They weren't actually the ones passing out or throwing up it was people from other countries - and even then I think I only saw two, just in Canberra it'd be every second corner you turn). They were dancing like they were 20 and we were all having so much fun! Brought in the new year with another bottle of champagne. It was so good! The fireworks were spectacular! I didn't know so many fireworks could come of one Ferris Wheel! :P and hearing Big Ben with the fireworks was so cool!

After the fireworks I was walking with the new family back to Covent Garden as that is where they needed to go as well. It was closed because of the crowds so I was going to walk up to the next station. Bless 'em, they would not let me walk alone! So we walked for ages past so many stations because they were all closed, but they wouldn't leave my side. When eventually I saw my bus that I could catch, I ran to jump on it, and they stayed and waved me off. Was very cute :) Got home at about 2:00am which wasn't so bad, but I fell asleep straight away.

Catch Up...

Saturday
New Years Eve.
I attempted to go into Londontown myself today. Didn't do to badly if I don't say so myself. Went to Russel Square to get my international student card and then headed across to Liverpool to go to the bank (which was falsely advertised and closed.). Headed back across to Covent Garden to get another Crepe :) Had a bit of a shop around and watched the Street performers. I was here so long but it was hard to leave. Loved the environment. Just found out there was an Aussie pub there so I shall have to go back and check it out. Too bad :)

From here I headed back across to the British Museum as I may have found a Baskin and Robbins shopfront (Just for you Poppy :) ! )
Also took a photo of the teachers and Students entrance to RADA for mum as I was too lazy to walk to the other side of the block and new this one because Anthony studies here (!!).

Then I was just about to head home after a gloriously untroubled day, when I got on the wrong bus. I new straight away so I got off at the next stop because I still new were I was but instead of taking a left back to my bus, I took a right. I walked for like 20 minutes down Oxford St (found Dorothy Perkins - where I got my formal dress from), Bloomsbury St, through a park, and eventually ended up back at the OTHER SIDE of the museum... *facepalm*

Anyway, on the way home I picked up soup and hot nuts (and a new saucepan) for dinner as Anthony wasn't feeling too good. But Soup makes everything feel better!! :)

Around 7:00pm I was watching the Sydney NY fireworks and had a fight with myself as to whether I watch the London ones on TV or actually go...

Catch Up...

Friday
Well I was going to go into London by myself today but was offered to tag along to go see the Houses of Parliament with Anthony and a few of his Aussie friends who were visiting. I took the opportunity up and was lead in the tunnels of London once again. Come out of the tube right underneath Big Ben! Yesterday when I saw it form afar, I actually didn't think it was all that spectacular, but up close it was gorgeous. It has gold plating all around the top and the detail all over the House of Parliament is spectacular. Two buildings, in two days, that have blown me away, who would have thought.

Unfortunately it was closed so we couldn't go in, so had lunch and headed for the British Museum. It was so cool seeing the this place and and knowing where I was I was. Got to see dead bodies and mummies and the Rosetta Stone and tombs and lots of Ancient Egyptian stuff. Was all very cool!

We then headed across to Clapham Junction which was a million miles away to have a pub dinner. Was really good! and great service too! The Draft Horse if anyone ever gets the chance. Very good!
Anthony got me home safely as I was very close to falling asleep again (damn you Jet Lag). And it was just as I got home that I realised that I had my camera on me the whole day and not once did I take a photo, until this: Just for Gabrielle.

Catch up...

Yep, I already failed epically on the blogging!! Unfortunately (but very much fortunately) I have been so tired when I get home from these massive days that I haven't been able to think of what to type! So I just haven't. But here goes.

Thursday
Arrived at 6:00am, got to the flat by 7:30am via the Heathrow Express and black cab, and nearly wanted to go to bed. But I didn't. I had breakfast with Anthony and he talked me through everything under the sun about London transport and things to do and recommendations and so on and so forth.

We then put words into actions and went into London. Tube : "OMG! Where am I?" Went into Central London and walked along the South Bank seeing such sights as the bridges, the Thames, The London Eye, Big Ben, lots of Theatres, and Parliamentary houses and schools and churches, to be quite honest I don't remember them all. We then walked across Milennium Bridge (and I had a Harry Potter moment :) ! ) down towards St Paul's Cathedral (Mary Poppins moment - I sang 'Feed the Birds' literally for the rest of the day).

Now I have always been one of theose people who say that a building looks nice and when people talk about achitecture I tend to zone out... but holy moly. The only way to describe St Paul's - It's Just...
I can't wait to go back and actually look inside of St Paul's because it is insanly... It's Just.

Anywhoos, from there we had lunch and went to Soho/Covent Garden area. This has seriously got to be one of the most social and uplifting atmospheres ever! I loved it here. Markets and street performers which never fail to entertain, good food (Creme de la Crepe!), lots of old buildings, lots of new buildings. It's just so lovely. From here we headed home to have some dinner and chill out time.

Well my grand suggestion of pasta ended up being cooked by Anthony as I began to fall asleep at the Kitchen table. Had dinner, and crashed. Night Night. No photos taken today but totally mesmorised but how much I saw and in such a short amount of time.
